How HNB FINANCE helped my business on the path to success

The recycling industry is constantly growing, and plastic recycling is one of the leading businesses in the world today. The process of recycling aims to conserve most of Sri Lanka’s limited resources, and we recently met a successful entrepreneur who manufactures recyclable raw materials for plastic.

These are the words of Mr. Ranjith Amaratunga, proprietor of KVR Plastic Industries, who happily came forward to tell us about his business, forgetting for a moment that he was busy at the company.

In the year 2000, I joined a private company that recycles plastics, and was in the industry for about 20 years. I was assigned to work in various departments, and after working for a considerable number of years, the owner of the company handed it over to someone else and left.

The new owners did not treat us workers as kindly as before, so I decided that what I really needed to do was learn how to do the business right, and by this time many others who worked with me decided to leave.

By the time I too decided to leave, I had learned a lot about every aspect of this industry, and other colleagues who were still working for the company also willingly left to join me.

I started by own business with a capital of Rs.500,000 I had at the time, which I used to purchase a small plastic recycling machine. Then, along with years of knowledge and experience, we started working- not that we didn’t face any obstacles along the way. We ensured that whatever mistakes we make would not be repeated.

I gradually expanded the business operations with machinery with greater capacities, for which I obtained loans from various financial institutions, and it was during this time that I came to know about HNB FINANCE.

At the time, I needed a loan of Rs.3 million, and it did not take long for them to approve my loan after submitting the relevant documents. I was impressed that I was able to get a loan that suits me without the hassle of any unnecessary paperwork. It was then that I decided to always go to HNB FINANCE for all of my financial requirements, and with the trust I had in them, I went ahead to obtain a loan of Rs.10 million.

Today, I have about 35 employees and two more factories. I would like to take this opportunity to thank HNB FINANCE for all the support I have receive, making the success of my business a reality, especially the Ja-Ela Branch and its Manager.
